Caterpillar at MINExpo 2008: Mining safely. Mining more. Mining right.

 

Caterpillar displayed surface and underground mining equipment and technology capabilities at booth number 6229—the largest indoor exhibit within MINExpo 2008. The Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center was the stage for introducing the new Caterpillar® F-Series mining trucks including the next generation of mechanical drive trucks as well as the new Cat® AC electric drive trucks. MINExpo 2008 marked the public debut for the new trucks, which Caterpillar announced more than two years ago.

 

The F-Series trucks feature the new Caterpillar C175 diesel engine, a state-of-the-art design proven efficient and reliable in power generation applications. A cut-away display of the new engine was also on exhibit.

 

In addition to the long anticipated new trucks, the new D11T track-Type Tractor was on public display for the first time, as was the newest in the line of Caterpillar large wheel loaders, the 993K.

 

Underground mining products on display included the latest underground loader and truck models as well as technology to boost productivity and safety in the underground environment. New surface mining technology products, too, were being shown. Caterpillar and Cat dealer product support capabilities shared the stage with the big iron and the technology products.

 

The theme of the exhibit was also supported with the showing of a new Caterpillar film, Ground Rules: Mining Right for a Sustainable Future, promoting sustainable development and building on the highly successful film, Common Ground, produced previously by Caterpillar.

 

Visitors to the Caterpillar exhibit at MINExpo saw firsthand how advanced mobile mining equipment, technology products and unmatched support capabilities can help mining operations.
