A good shot is the starting point for an efficient operation and can save time all down the line. The cheapest crushing you can do is when you light it off. There’s a guy on your team who knows if you’re doing a good job. Talk to your loader operator, the guy who’s digging the shot. How well does it load? He’ll let you know if the material is well fragmented, laid out on the floor. Your shot will affect more down-line activities, such as loading, hauling and crushing, than any other unit operation.
