Make the Crusher the End of the Road
Remember that the haul road continues all the way to the crusher or the dump. The same factors that affect speed, safety and truck and tire life apply to the crusher area.
You need a crusher area that is clean and smooth, with a clear traffic pattern.
If the crusher is down, hauling units can dump in the surge pile rather than wait.
Make sure the surge pile is within accepted parameters for load and carry distance to the crusher. You can build up the surge pile during times when the crusher is down. After hours, one loader can make up the difference in production. That way, you’re achieving full value from your haul trucks because you are maintaining efforts to remove material from the hill.
