U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final & IMO III Marine Engine Emissions Technology

Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) Technology for U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final Marine Engine Emissions

Beginning January 1, 2016, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 4 Final emission standards apply to Cat® C280, C175, 3500, and C32 ACERT™ marine engines with ratings equal to and greater than 1400 bkW. The marine-specific solution designed by Caterpillar includes Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) technology to meet Tier 4 Final emission standards. SCR has less impact on engine efficiency and durability than other emissions reduction solutions.

Designed for safety, fuel efficiency, and service life of your marine engine
  • Modular concept and common components across product line
  • Installation flexibility – different configurations with multiple mounting options and multi-position spool piece
  • Engine operation not affected by SCR system
  • Commonality with IMO II/Tier 3 equivalent core engines
Lowest Lifecycle Costs:
  • Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) costs are offset by savings from the reduced fuel consumption
  • SCR overhaul designed to align with major engine overhauls
  • Designed for ease of maintenance
  • Simple and reliable Electronic Unit Injection
  • Seal trial and commisioning supported by Cat Dealers
  • Supported by the Caterpillar Warranty
Discover why Caterpillar Marine customers like Harley Marine Services say Tier 4 Final marine engines with SCR technology are the better choice.
