Caterpillar Acquires M2M Data Corporation Expanding Cat® Connect Suite of Offerings

Houston, TX – Caterpillar Oil & Gas is pleased to announce it has completed the acquisition of M2M Data Corporation (M2M). Headquartered near Denver, Colorado, M2M offers turnkey hosted solutions enabling customers to monitor their assets, perform remote diagnostics and streamline maintenance and dispatch to achieve operational excellence. In addition to serving gas compression, M2M has expanded into adjacent Oil & Gas markets over their seventeen year history.

“This acquisition will expand our existing suite of Cat® Connect offerings across the Cat Connect Digital Services Technology Platform,” said Craig Lange, director of strategy & growth businesses for Caterpillar Oil & Gas. “Ultimately, combining M2M’s and Caterpillar’s capabilities will strengthen our relationships with our customers enabling us to deliver high-level operational support solutions.”

The platform M2M has developed over the years allows for quick integration of new customers. “M2M offers a full suite of hardware, firmware, software and services to provide a high level of customization needed to address our customer’s business challenges,” said Trevor Harper, VP, chief technology & operating officer at M2M. “We are pleased to be joining the Caterpillar family and look forward to our people, products and services joining Caterpillar and the global Cat® Dealer Network.”

ABOUT M2M

M2M was started to provide an alternative to traditional SCADA systems in the energy market by providing a turnkey end to end solution.  Unlike the traditional software and radio based SCADA systems at that time, M2M offered a web and satellite based solution which enabled small to mid-size businesses an affordable alternative that could be installed on a machine by machine basis. M2M has had a major focus in the natural gas compression area of the energy market.  Over the last 17 years, M2M has made significant investments in developing a comprehensive, tiered solution for remote monitoring, central analysis and business intelligence.
