Shanghai, China (November 27, 2012) – Caterpillar today is showcasing industrial engines and power units for use in air compressors, rock drills, rock crushers, and a wide variety of other industrial applications targeted for the Chinese market. These engines produce excellent power density and fuel efficiency for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
With power options from 8 – 4,920 kW (11 – 6,598 hp) Cat® industrial engines offer the widest power range in the industry for construction, mining, and other industrial markets. Factory designed and manufactured power units are available for a majority of the engine models. At Bauma China 2012, Cat C7.1 ACERT™, C9 ACERT, and C18 ACERT Tier 3/Stage IIIA engines and a power unit will be on display.
C7.1 ACERT Industrial Power Unit
The new Cat C7.1 ACERT industrial power unit is a 6 cylinder electronic engine, 7.01 liter platform with ratings from 129 – 168 kW (173 – 225 hp). Equipped with a proven high pressure common rail fuel system and high capacity fuel filtration, the C7.1 ACERT is designed for reliability and durability in the most demanding off highway applications. This power unit is scheduled to be available in the 4th quarter 2013.
The Industrial Power Unit is a complete power package containing the radiator, flywheel, alternator, and wiring pre-assembled for fast, straightforward installation into OEM and end user customer applications. Power units allow customers to conveniently order pre-configured power packs that are ready-made for a wide variety of applications including irrigation, dewatering, mining, and hydraulic pumps. The introduction of the Cat C7.1 ACERT industrial power unit continues the Caterpillar commitment to provide maximum value to our customers who need drop in installation packages backed with world-class product support.
C9 ACERT Industrial Engine
The Cat C9 ACERT industrial engine is a 6 cylinder electronic engine, 8.8 liter platform with ratings from 205 – 280 kW (275 – 375 hp). Two new China Stage II (Tier 2) ratings are now available at 224 kW (300 hp) and 261 kW (350 hp) that provide improvement in fuel efficiency up to 5% to complement our existing Tier 3/Stage III offerings. A tertiary fuel filter is standard which increases fuel filtration capacity. Power units are available up to 261 kW (350 hp).
C18 ACERT Industrial Engine
The Cat C18 ACERT industrial electronic engine provides excellent power density in an 18.1 liter package. The dual turbo engine configuration shown on the display provides ratings from 522 – 597 kW (700 – 800 hp). A single turbo configuration is also available with ratings from 429 – 470 kW (575 – 630 hp). A tertiary fuel filter is standard. Power units are available up to 522 kW (700 hp).
