Caterpillar Foundation

While each of our offices and facilities worldwide supports local efforts in their individual communities, our Caterpillar Foundation provides funding and support from a corporate perspective. Formed in 1952, the Foundation has distributed almost $200 million to support education, health and human services, and civic, cultural, and environmental causes.

Proposal Information
Proposals need to be clear and brief and sent to your nearest Caterpillar facility. Please include the following information:

  • Date
  • Name, address, telephone number, and fax number of the organization making the request.
  • Name, address, telephone number, and position in the organization of the person making the request.
  • A brief description of the organization.
  • 501(c)(3) non-profit status. Please provide a copy of the Federal IRS 501(c)(3) letter of authorization.
  • Purpose of project or campaign, total goal, portion of the total already on hand and if the funds will be used for operating or capital items.
  • Why Caterpillar should contribute to this cause; what is the benefit to Caterpillar.
  • What other organizations are providing similar support and how.
  • Amount requested of Caterpillar and why.
  • How many Caterpillar employees or family members are members of the organization.
  • How many Caterpillar employees or family members might benefit from this project and how.
  • If this is an annual request for funds.
  • In addition to this campaign, are funds also being sought or obtained from others such as governmental bodies, United Way, etc.? If so, to what degree.
  • If any of the following are applicable, please supply the appropriate information when you submit your request for funds:
    • Details of proposal
    • Copy of current budget
    • Copy of the most recent audited financial report
    • List of major donors/pledges
    • Board members and affiliations
    • Other comments
