Asphalt compaction is all about time and temperature. A rolling pattern must be completed the same way in the same amount of time in order to assure consistently acceptable density. The map of the rolling pattern that is shown on the Cat display guides the operator to uniformity–no matter what the light conditions are or how late in the shift.

Temperature mapping is the second part of the benefit provided by Cat Compaction Control. The operator does not have to depend on hand-held temperature guns or information from the quality control technician. Real-time, accurate mat temperature is always right in front of the operator. It's never been easier for the operator to stay in correct temperature zone–whether it's staying in the hottest zone for optimum density or staying ahead of the tender zone to prevent mat defects.
