For Release in Europe: February 2015
Release Number: 4PR15
The new compact-radius Cat® 335F L CR excavator, with a tail-swing radius of just 1900 mm, handles heavy work on congested job sites with minimal risk of property damage, while delivering up to 16 percent improved fuel efficiency and a 5 percent improved lift capacity over the front, compared with its 328D L CR predecessor. Among the new model’s premium features are a powerful, efficient hydraulic system; heavy-duty structures; quiet, comfortable, full-size cab; high-ambient cooling system; ground-level service points; and a range of work tools that expand the 335F L CR’s versatility.
Powerful engine
Using proven electronic, fuel, air, and aftertreatment components, such as a maintenance-free diesel particulate filter, the 335F L CR’s 205-metric-horsepower (151 kW) Cat C7.1 ACERT™ engine meets EU Stage IV emission standards—with no interruption of work cycles or action from the operator, meeting customer expectations for productivity, fuel efficiency, reliability, and service life.
The automatic engine speed control lowers engine rpm during no-load/light-load conditions, the engine idle shutdown system stops the engine after a pre-set idling interval, and the ECO mode allows operators to tailor machine performance to the application. The engine also runs efficiently on biodiesel blends up to B20.
Efficient hydraulic systems
The 335F L CR's powerful hydraulic system places major components in close proximity to minimize piping lengths and to reduce frictional losses and pressure drops. The system delivers precise flow volumes where and when required. Combined with boom- and stick- regeneration circuits that reduce load on the main pumps, the unique Cat hydraulic system contributes significantly to overall fuel savings.
Compact radius design and durable structures
The 335F L CR’s massive frames, carbody, and heavy-duty (long) undercarriage are designed for durability and ensure an exceptionally strong, stable work platform for digging, lifting, or attachment use. When working in small areas, its compact radius design decreases the risk of injuries, damages to buildings and vehicles, or to the machine itself. The 335F L CR is offered with similar digging envelope and bucket sizes as a Cat 30-ton regular (non-compact radius) excavator, i.e. a heavy-duty 6.15 m reach boom and 3.2 m stick provide digging depths to 6.99 m. The new model also increases over-front lifting capacity up to 5 percent, compared with the 328D L CR. An optional blade provides enhanced stability and can also be used to backfill light material.
Operator environment
The pressurized cab is spacious and quiet with large glass areas for all-around visibility. The cab features positive air filtration, height adjustable joystick consoles, a large color monitor, radio with MP3 auxiliary audio port, and available air suspension, heated, and cooled seat options to keep operators comfortable and productive.
Technology enhancements
To realize maximum return on investment, equipment owners need to employ their machines to full potential, requiring that machines produce more in less time and use less fuel. To further reduce costs, unnecessary machine wear must be avoided, and job sites must be kept safe. Cat Connect helps customers accomplish these goals, providing more value from their Cat equipment and improving jobsite efficiency with Caterpillar technology and Cat dealer services.
LINK technologies, such as the Product Link™ system, wirelessly connects owners to their equipment, providing access to valuable machine data such as location, hours, fuel consumption, idle time, events, and diagnostic codes for analysis and reporting via the online VisionLink® user interface. LINK information assists with fact-based decision making to help increase efficiency and lower owning and operating costs.
Serviceability & safety
Serviceability features include ground-level access to major maintenance points, electric fuel system priming pump, remote fuel tank drain, and fuel level indicator to avoid overfilling. Safety features include a cab integrated roll-over protection structure (ROPS), anti-skid surfaces, programmable halogen working lights, easily stored upper and lower windows, large skylight, and a rearview camera system.
