According to the design goal of undertaking 40% of the air passenger traffic of the new airport, a large-scale airline base of a new international airport in China has five functional areas: production and operation support facilities operation and support room project, production and operation support facilities staff dormitory project , aircraft maintenance facilities project, aviation food facilities project, and cargo facilities project, with a total construction scale of 1.0869 million square meters.
Power demand one:
Operation Control Center No. 1 has a total of four 10.5 kV high-voltage diesel generator sets with a main power of 1600 kW, of which three are dedicated to the airport data center. The other one supplies power to important places such as the operation control hall and can guarantee necessary office needs in an emergency. When the main power is not damaged, the main power supply during the war should be the main power system. When the main power system loses power, the system automatically turns on the diesel generator set to meet the wartime power demand.
Solution:
The Operation Control Center No. 1 is equipped with four Cat® 3516B 10.5 kV high-voltage diesel generator sets with a main power of 1600 kW, of which three are dedicated to the airport data center, equipped with a complete parallel system, which adopts a parallel Quick Response operation mode to realize completion of the parallel output within 40 seconds. The fourth unit is used as a backup power supply for particularly important load locations such as the operation control hall to ensure necessary office requirements are met in an emergency. This stand-alone unit starts to run at full load within 10 seconds. Caterpillar’s agent North China Lixing provides customers with one-stop service throughout the life cycle of design, construction, acceptance, and maintenance, so that customers can rest assured in terms of safety and reliability of power supply.
The data center of the international airport information center building performs the data processing work of all communication and information systems within the airport such as calculation, storage, information exchange sharing, remote control, etc. It is the operation site for the core equipment of each system and belongs to the special class of the first load, making it an important load.
Power demand two:
The power supply and distribution system needs to ensure the reliability and flexibility of the power supply, ensure personal safety, and facilitate construction, maintenance, and management. The power supply and distribution system should be technologically advanced in equipment selection, operate reliably, economical in cost, and operate safely.
A full-capacity diesel generator set is used as a backup power source, fully covering the needs of IT load, power cooling, emergency lighting, fire protection, etc., and providing backup power and emergency power for the data room.
Solution:
According to the load conditions, install three 3516B 10.5 kV high-voltage fast, self-starting diesel generator sets with main power of 1820 kW, adopting 2+1 parallel operation mode, single busbar section output, silent box sound insulation and noise reduction, internal high-voltage inlet line cabinets, feed-out cabinets, daily fuel tanks and other integrated power supply equipment to directly output a 10 kV power supply, which is fully connected to the original power supply system, and creates a diesel power supply system that is flexible and reliable. North China Lixing acted to ensure that the airport can be put into operation on time and delivered quickly, providing a reliable power guarantee for airport operations.
Caterpillar generators have excellent capacity with capacitive loads. The power factor is between 0.85-1 without derating. The capacity with capacitive loads in the derating interval is also as high as 0.37-0.52PU. The 27,000-hour overhaul period clearly stated in the operation and maintenance manual can provide customers with peace of mind.
