3512E TIER 4 FINAL ENGINE MEETS CRITICAL LAND DRILLING REQUIREMENTS

A key part of developing our solution to meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emissions standards was meeting with land drilling customers to make sure we understood your requirements. Take a closer look at the Cat® 3512E Tier 4 Final Land Electric-Drive Drilling Engine, and you’ll see that it addresses the critical factors you told us matter most.

WHAT YOU ASKED FOR

WHAT THE 3512E DELIVERS

No secondary fluid requirement

NOx reduction without Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) or urea

Our Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) solution eliminates the need for a secondary fluid — thereby eliminating the costs and headaches associated with storing, shipping, stocking and handling DEF on dirty, remote, extreme-temperature sites.

Reduced operating costs

Lower fuel consumption to decrease overall costs

Though many people think EGR technology increases fuel consumption, we’ve proven otherwise. Comparing identical drilling load profiles, our Tier 4 Final model consumes up to 4% less diesel than the Tier 2 model. No need for secondary fluid reduces operating costs even further.

Transient performance maintained

+/-1.5 Hz fluctuation with more than 50% block load

With all the added technology required to meet emissions standards, you might expect to lose some performance. Not with the 3512E. Our Tier 4 Final engine beats all expectations, performing the same as the Tier 2 model — even better in some load conditions.

Similar footprint for ease of packaging

Minimal changes to existing master skid design

We know space is tight on drilling rigs. By building our emissions-reduction solution into the engine itself — with no DEF storage requirements — we’ve kept the footprint of our Tier 4 Final engine about the same as that of the Tier 2 model.

Same or better service intervals

Extended top-end overhaul from 11,000 to 16,500 hours

You want to spend more time working and less time servicing. We agree. Our Tier 4 Final engine maintains or improves on service intervals with the same maintenance procedures and scheduling as the Tier 2 model — and requires just one top-end overhaul at 16,500 hours instead of two top-end overhauls at 11,000 and 22,000 hours.
