North American regional champions are set to take on the world!

On a crisp day in Clayton, North Carolina, local Operator Challenge winners from the East and the West came together for a single purpose—to crush their North American competition. It was an hard-fought test of skill and determination, but two champions from emerged victorious.

With their victories in hand, the two North American Champions are headed to Las Vegas to compete against international winners from around the world. The Global Operator Challenge takes place at CONEXPO 2020 on Tuesday, March 10. It’s sure to be a showcase of power, skill and spirit.

CATERPILLAR OPERATOR CHALLENGE EVENTS

 

Operators will be put to the test in a range of machines and tasks.* Each performance is scored based on speed, accuracy and operating best practice. Penalties are also imposed for errors. The operator who achieves the best overall score is recognized as the champion.    

 

TRENCHING CHALLENGE

Operators use a Cat excavator to dig a trench with Grade with 2D technology.

THE FULLY LOADED CHALLENGE (OR TRUCK LOADING CHALLENGE)

Operators use a Cat excavator or wheel loader with Production Measurement technology to accurately load a target.

THE AGILITY CHALLENGE

Operators use a Cat skid steer loader to navigate a “course” and maintain balance and material control.

THE LOAD AND CARRY CHALLENGE

Operators will use a Cat skid steer loader or wheel loader with Production Measurement technology to load and move material through specified points in a course.

THE EASY DOZE IT CHALLENGE (OR MANUERVERABILITY CHALLENGE)

Operators use Cat dozer blade and steering while working through a pre-set course.

THE CONTROL TO A TEE CHALLENGE (OR ABSOLUTE CONTROL CHALLENGE)

Operators use a Cat mini or small excavator to “tee off” a golf ball, navigate a “course” and place the golf ball in the hole.

THE ONE FOR THE ROAD CHALLENGE

Operators use a Cat motor grader to race the clock maneuvering a road course and using the blade.

THE LIFT ME UP CHALLENGE

Operators use a Cat backhoe loader to grapple and move a steel beam and plastic pipe to designated locations in a course.

Every effort has been made to keep the tasks and parameters for scoring consistent at all events. Specific machines, ground conditions and tasks may vary by region and location.
