Caterpillar Powers Argentina’s First Locally-Built Well Stimulation Trailer Featuring Cat® Engine, Cat Transmission and Cat Pressure Pump

Buenos Aires, Argentina - Caterpillar Oil & Gas is pleased to announce the company has outfitted the first domestically-sourced well stimulation trailer for Argentina oil and gas operations with all Cat® well service power solutions and a Cat pressure pump. Featured on the trailer is the Cat 3512C (HD) engine, a Cat TH55-E70 transmission as well as the Cat WS255 quintuplex pressure pump with a stainless steel fluid end. Additionally, the 3512C (HD) engine is also equipped with Product Link™, the Caterpillar enterprise telematics solution for comprehensive engine and transmissions management. Cat dealer Finning South America led Caterpillar’s efforts on the sale. The trailer will operate for Weatherford International in the Neuquen oilfield in Argentina.

“For the Argentinian well stimulation industry, this is a landmark project and we’re proud to help bring locally-sourced trailers to the oil and gas operations in the region. We’re currently the only manufacturer in the industry who can provide this scope of supply to customers and the value of utilizing a single supplier to completely outfit a well stimulation trailer is of economic and strategic significance,” Scott Gee, Caterpillar Oil & Gas sales manager noted. “It comes down to this: our end-users can be confident in Caterpillar as a single-source supplier of quality power required for success in the oilfield.”

The WS255 pump offers a maximum power input of 1864 bkW (2500 bhp) @ 330 rpm and is ideal for well stimulation applications using Cat 3512C (HD) engines and TH55 transmissions. The Cat well stimulation pump product portfolio consists of five well stimulation pumps in triplex and quintuplex configurations in a standard, Extreme Duty (XD) series or Stainless Steel (SS) series. The Cat well stimulation pumps feature fluid ends and power ends designed to an industry standard footprint, allowing customers to easily fit the Cat pump into their existing trailer designs. The fluid ends on all models have a valve-over-valve design to simplify valve, seat and plunger installation and each fluid end block is manufactured with a robust material conditioning process. A full assortment of discharge flanges, suction manifolds, and bore sizes are also offered.

Santiago Defferrari, Finning Argentina industry manager noted, “We’ve developed a strong sales and service footprint in Argentina, specifically in oil and gas applications. We’re looking forward to outfitting many more customers with the wide range of Cat solutions for well stimulation trailers as a single source supplier.”
