Next Generation 35 kVA Rental Power Generator Set Meets Tier 4 Final Emission Standards

For Release Worldwide: February 17, 2016
Release Number: EEPR1715

PEORIA, IL – Caterpillar Inc. today announced the expansion of the company’s line of rental power solutions with the introduction of the Cat® XQ35 mobile diesel generator set. Rated at 35 kVA for prime operation, the new product meets Tier 4 Final emission standards while improving fuel efficiency and optimizing productivity for rental operations in North America and Canada.

The XQ35 will be available in the second quarter of 2016 and will be the third Tier 4 Final product in the range extending from 35 to 570 kVA.

“The updated Tier 4 Final option was necessary to successfully address the temporary power needs of our customers,” says Brian Kruse, general manger at Caterpillar Rental Power. “The cleaner Cat 2.2T engine is more powerful and robust, while a modified package design reduces the footprint and weight compared to the previous Tier 4 interim package. The customer is truly getting more for less.”

Equipped with Caterpillar’s sophisticated EMCP 4.2B control panel, the latest Cat XQ mobile generator set features power metering, protective relaying and engine and generator control and monitoring. Multiple distribution options provide additional receptacles for customers to conveniently connect into based on operation needs.

In addition to the advanced control panel, the XQ35 also includes multi-speed fan drive technology. The fan no longer needs to runs continuously at full speed and power. This saves additional fuel, while also lowering noise output; an ideal feature when operating at lower loads, in cooler temperatures, or most importantly, in evening hours when noise levels are most noticeable.

With a robust, rental-ready construction, the product line is designed to be easily transported around project sites safely and efficiently. A smaller footprint saves space and provides installation versatility on worksites, while a galvanized enclosure is resilient to potentially harsh environments.

The XQ35 is capable of 500-hour oil change intervals, which likewise increases uptime, lowers maintenance costs and consumes fewer parts and oil making it friendlier for the environment.

All Cat XQ mobile generator sets are supported by the Cat dealer network. Cat dealers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist with customer’s emergency rental needs. Caterpillar’s service network ensures access to prompt; quality repairs by trained technicians at Caterpillar authorized service locations.
