Cat gensets guard against citywide outage

With a growing population, the city of Nephi, Utah faced the possibility of blackouts. City leaders worked with their local Cat dealer to build a new 5 megawatt gas-powered generation plant. This remotely-controlled facility not only generates the power they need, but helps them save money by avoiding high peak demand charges.

Delivering Energy Outcomes with Reading Municipal Light Department

By monitoring energy market conditions and capitalizing on opportunities to dispatch assets during predicted premium price hours, Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) is able to lower electricity costs for its customers. Shawn Borden

Shawn Borden has over 30 years’ experience in the energy industry, working with customers to help them better understand and manage the changing energy landscape. As the Utility Program Development Manager at Caterpillar, Shawn can help with bridge power solutions, distributed energy resources, and the development and implementation of RaaS (resiliency as a service) programs.

Kevin Mantel

Kevin Mantel is a Senior Account Manager for Cat Electric Power covering the Municipal & Cooperative Electric Utility market. Kevin has worked for Caterpillar for 20 years at the Large Engine Center based in Lafayette, IN. Kevin started his Caterpillar career as a Program Manager in the engineering department for the Large Power System Division. He then moved into Program Management roles leading aftermarket growth projects for the Electric Power, Oil & Gas, and Marine markets. Kevin then moved into the Electric Power Division supporting Cat dealers for natural gas generator products ranging from 400 kW to 10,000 kW.
