If you spend a lot of time driving around New South Wales, chances are you’ve driven roads that have been worked by Stabilcorp, a family-owned company that has been transforming local infrastructure in NSW for over 35 years.
The Stabilcorp team has taken on jobs across New South Wales and Queensland over the last three decades, but Brendan says the most rewarding ones have also been some of their most recent.
“Some of the most rewarding work we’ve done have been tied directly to the floods.”
He’s referring to the devastating flooding Australia saw in 2022, which displaced tens of thousands of people across the country. The floods left many communities isolated, with damaged roads preventing residents from getting supplies and making it difficult for heavy vehicles to access areas in need of support. Stabilcorp stepped in to assist with restoring access, working long hours in tough conditions.
“It’s those types of jobs that fill our team with pride,” Brendan said. “We can come into a devastated community and provide them access back through their arterial roads.” Repairing key roads that had been washed away is about more than restoring infrastructure—it’s the restoration of an essential lifeline for people who had been cut off, sometimes for months.
The locals in impacted communities have gone out of their way to show their appreciation for the team’s hard work, which makes it all the more rewarding. “Community members have knitted socks for our guys on colder days, and we get sandwiches brought out all the time—the community definitely appreciates what we’re doing out there.”
The flood recovery efforts are more than just another job for the Stabilcorp team. They’re a chance to live out the values the business was built on—supporting their community, delivering quality work, and standing together as a family to make a difference. These are the values Brendan’s father passed down to him, and that he is passing on to his own son in turn—and they are what will continue to set Stabilcorp apart in the years to come.
