Caterpillar Hoses & Couplings: Insisting on Quality
You make the hoses and couplings, we guarantee the quality.
Typically, no one gives hose and couplings (H&C) a second thought, yet they are critical to Cat machines. Without them, a machine is simply a yellow metal sculpture. It's only when they break or burst that they're noticed.
“In the construction industry, hoses are often replaced only after they fail, rather than as a preventive measure," says Arun Prasath, Cat® Marketing Professional, Hydraulics EAME. "And when they fail, what are they being replaced with?"
Inferior Parts: A Costly Gamble
El Andalous, one of Egypt's largest construction companies and a customer of Cat dealer Mantrac Egypt, used to replace failed hoses at local workshops. The replacements often matched the diameter but not the specifications, which led to frequent, repeated failures. "Some hoses didn’t last for even a week and that resulted in increased costs and extended equipment downtime," says Mohamed Talaat, Senior ASC-R&R/HYD, Mantrac.
On-Site Hose Solutions Keeping Machines Running
Site visits and data collection revealed the scale of the problem, affecting all machines across multiple sites. Mantrac saw a better solution, one that worked for both Cat and non-Cat fleets. The answer was simple: use genuine Cat parts.

By supplying all the parts, the tooling and the training needed Mantrac could ensure that El Andalous could now make Cat-quality hoses where and whenever they were needed.
“Given El Andalous' expansive operations, it’s crucial for us to efficiently manage our remote sites. Mantrac’s On-Site Hose Solution was a good option to keep our fleet running and minimize downtime. Now that we have a secure stock of Cat hoses and couplings, we’re always ready,” stated Eng. Haitham, Procurement Manager El Andalous.
“Caterpillar On-Site Hose Solutions with tooling provides exceptional workability and durability with an unlimited daily production range and capability to handle a wide range of hoses. It ensures a precise hose assembly due to its computerized operation," explains Mohamed. After product demonstrations, trial stock planning, and a couple of training days, El Andalous had its very own H&C technician and was up and running.
This solution provided by Mantrac has saved the customer a lot of time and money. "The hose press machine has streamlined our fleet operations, says Mr. Saleh Elian, El Andalous Company Chairman. “We are involved in the country's largest projects, so this solution has been invaluable. I would also like to thank Mantrac for their technical support. We consider them an essential partner in all our projects."
