This well-known dozer, with over a decade of proven experience and success in other regions, is a great fit for those who value simple operation in a robust, powerful machine.
IRVING, Texas, July 14, 2025―The Cat® D6R2 dozer is set for introduction into parts of the Latin American market. This well-known dozer, with over a decade of proven experience and success in other regions, is a great fit for those who value simple operation in a robust, powerful machine. The D6R2 features a comfortable cab, easy-to-use controls, refined powertrain and hydraulic systems, heavy-duty structures for long-term durability, and ground-level, grouped service points.
The powerful Cat C9 engine meets China Nonroad Stage III emissions, equivalent to U.S. EPA Tier 3/EU Stage IIIA. The standard configuration with a semi-universal (SU) blade and multi-shank ripper is tailored to key applications and will be the only offering for this region. The standard configuration delivers a net power rating of 146 kW (196 hp), with an operating weight of 19 066 kg (42,000 lb.). The D6R2 shares many features, such as durability, comfort, and efficiency, with the popular D6T, originally introduced in 2007, but the D6R2 operates on a newer platform introduced in 2015.
The D6R2 cab features an integrated Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS), which significantly increases visibility. A pressurization system, plus improved door sealing, helps prevent dust from entering the cab and maintains a quieter interior. The standard suspension seat is fully adjustable, and from the seat, the operator has a direct view of the updated instrument panel, including brighter, easier-to-read gauges, a digital hour meter on an LCD screen, and 11 status lamps for electronic monitoring and warning.
A single-twist steering tiller reduces operator effort and allows the operator to maneuver the D6R2 precisely in congested work areas. The integrated transmission controls allow easy directional and range shifts. Pilot-operated implement controls significantly reduce lever effort, compared with mechanical controls, and engine speed is conveniently set with a rotary throttle.
The D6R2’s two-pump, load-sensing hydraulic system ensures optimum, simultaneous response from work tools and the steering system, while continuously adjusting the implement system for maximum efficiency.
A torque divider gets more engine power to the ground. The electronically controlled power-shift transmission uses high-capacity, oil-cooled clutches that maintain high torque capacity and long life. Differential steering increases the speed of one track while slowing the other one down for exceptional turning, even with a full blade load. This provides greater maneuverability and faster cycle times, as well as better load capacity, power and speed control in soft underfoot conditions.
The D6R2's foundation is a rugged mainframe designed to absorb impact shock and resist twisting forces. L-shaped push arms bring the blade close to the tractor, enhancing overall balance, maneuverability, blade penetration, lateral stability, and pry-out capability. Blades use high-tensile-strength steel, have an abrasion-resistant moldboard, and have hardened, reversible, bolt-on cutting edges.
The elevated-sprocket design of the undercarriage protects major components from harsh impacts, and the modular design permits the final drives to be easily serviced. Lifetime lubrication of chains, rollers, and idlers extend undercarriage life.
Caterpillar began manufacturing track-type tractors in 1925 with the 60 and 30 models. These models were known for their high-quality materials, efficiency, and durability. While those qualities still apply, today’s track-type tractors are enhanced with factory-ready technologies such as Cat Grade with 3D, Cat Assist with ARO, and Remote Control. Today, Caterpillar designs and manufactures 14 models of dozers in our facilities around the world.
