Caterpillar unveils new Cat® Simulators Collaborative Worksite Training™ package from Simformotion™ at MINExpo

The new program connects a Cat 6060 hydraulic mining shovel and 793 mining truck in a collaborative working environment, adding a level of human interaction and a more real-life feel for the load/haul cycle, without the fear of causing harm to themselves, others or the equipment.

TUCSON, Ariz., September 21, 2024 – Cat® Equipment Training Solutions will introduce the Cat 798 AC driver training simulator, developed by ThoroughTec Simulation, at MINExpo 2024. This product specific system forms part of Caterpillar’s comprehensive training program for the Cat 798 AC truck and features a direct replica of 798 AC operator controls, complete with a six-degree-of-motion platform. The simulator is designed to effectively train operators in the most efficient, safe and realistic way possible, including an ultrahigh definition replication of the mining environment in which the truck operates. The system also comes complete with dual screens at the instructor’s desk with the ability to provide a flyover view of the entire mining operation as well as monitor equipment and exercise parameters.

o   Developed using Cat licensed technology, subject matter expert input and OEM components for the most realistic training experience

o   Features the latest cab dashboard layout for the Cat 798 AC

o   Operator’s compartment mounted to a six-degree-of-motion platform plus force-feedback steering for an accurate simulated driving experience

o   Enhanced graphics and ultrahigh definition laser projection visual system to immerse trainees in the virtual operating environment

o   Features Caterpillar’s integrated equipment warning category 1, 2 and 3 alarms and simulated fault injections to train operators to identify warnings and potential issues and take appropriate action

o   Enhanced learner training aids to assist instructors when coaching new drivers on abstract operating concepts

o   Integrates the latest generation of ThoroughTec’s CYBERMINE 6 software architecture

o   Operates in a highly detailed and realistic virtual Own Mine World that replicates the client’s mine site where operators can learn the site’s rules and procedures
