Providing Relief at the Tiger Reserve

For the final task in Built For It™ Trials LIVE: India, the 424B travelled into the wild, to the Panna Tiger Reserve. While other Cat® machines worked on expanding the roads that go through the Reserve, the 424B helped do something that will bring relief to the animals there.

Not long ago the tiger population was almost extinct in Panna. Today, the Panna Tiger Reserve is home to three generations of tigers. Thanks to the efforts of the Save the Tiger project, the tiger population is thriving again.

But, scarcity of rain in the summer means a lack of water for the animals. This poses a serious threat to the wildlife. The solution: build a better water management system, directing the water towards a catchment area, which will store water.

Local Cat dealers worked with the Reserve Rangers to devise a way in which water could be channeled better. Together the dealers and the 424B were able to create a permanent reservoir for the tigers, creating an oasis in the middle of the forest. Even in such tough terrain, the backhoe worked without a glitch.

Over just a few days, we built an embankment that will store water for the animals, year-round.
