WHAT IS SMART MODE? [00:16]

Smart mode gives you flexibility in your power needs on the job. It's a combination of your hydraulic excavator’s Power mode and Economy mode. When activated, your engine’s revolutions per minute (RPM) starts at full revs. Then Smart mode lowers the horsepower based on the operator’s usual inputs.

If you need more horsepower, Smart mode allows you to work as necessary, giving you full command of your excavator’s power. But if you regularly use less movement and less hydraulic horsepower, Smart mode establishes a baseline RPM from your typical input to conserve fuel. It also automatically adjusts your excavator’s hydraulic power based on your worksite’s digging conditions. The full power is there if you need it.


HOW DO YOU TURN ON SMART MODE? [00:55]

  1. Press and hold the top of the throttle dial to cycle through your excavator’s different modes.

  2. As you cycle through, the icon at the top of your monitor screen shows which mode is selected.

  3. If you want Smart mode to be the default setting when you turn on your excavator, enter the machine settings menu and select Power mode setting.

  4. From that screen, you can set Power mode, Economy mode or Smart mode as the default.

This monitor software is the same for all Next Gen excavators.
