NO. 8 CAT MINING CHEVY TO HIT THE TRACK AT LAS VEGAS
Caterpillar to offer virtual experience
The mining industry was scheduled to gather September 28-30, 2020, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, for MINExpo International. Many of our mining customers were expected to attend the NASCAR race happening in Las Vegas the day before to cheer on the No. 8 Cat Mining Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE.
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed both events. MINExpo has been postponed to September 2021. And the NASCAR race will still proceed in Las Vegas, with no fans in the stands and significantly changed protocols in place.
What hasn’t changed is our commitment to both events. Caterpillar will be in Las Vegas for the rescheduled MINExpo in September 2021. And we’ll provide a virtual race experience for our customers, dealers, employees and fans leading up to the race on Sunday, September 27, 2020.
The NASCAR race is just one in a series of virtual events and experiences that we’re developing to stay connected with our customers. We also continue to reach out on our social channels and website, as well as through a new series of weekly digital touchpoints that will keep our customers informed as we count down the weeks to MINExpo 2021.
NASCAR Virtual Experience
The No. 8 Cat Mining Chevy driven by Tyler Reddick will be racing in the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway broadcast live on NBCSN at 7:00 p.m. ET. The car will have a special Cat Mining scheme and promote our new mining-focused website, Cat.com/mining.
In the coming days we’ll offer several elements of the virtual experience, including behind-the-scenes videos with Tyler and the RCR team, downloadable materials and live updates during the race.
