COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Diesel Engine Performance (DEP) empowers the learner to properly evaluate engine systems / installations and test / adjust engine components to achieve optimum performance. At the Miami Lakes Learning Center the labs will be conducted on fully-loadable engines across the following platforms: C15, C32, 3500B OHT DGB, 3500C, 3500E (T4F Well Service).

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the completion of this course, the learner will be able to: 

  • Perform engine startup after major repairs. 
  • Identify corrective actions based on engine performance parameters and active codes. 
  • Determine possible engine failures after review of S.O.S. reports and provide corrective actions. 
  • Validate engine installation as per the A&I guides. 
  • Verify engine alignment is within specification. 
  • Take vibration readings to determine an engine is within specification 
  • *Compare DGB substitution performance with Caterpillar® specification
