USING GRADE WITH ADVANCED 2D, GRADE WITH 3D
No matter what type of digging job, Cat® Grade with 2D, standard on many next generation excavators, delivers accurate digging faster and in fewer passes. Experience the benefits of Grade with Advanced 2D and Grade with 3D technologies, which not only help you hit your grading target every time, but also provide the ability to create and edit site designs in the field, and offer positioning guidance, respectively.
HOW TO GRADE WITH 2D
The system is simple to operate:
- Set bench
Touch a known reference point with the bucket tip or bottom of the bucket edge.
- Depth
Set the target elevation. The Grade System shows the vertical distance between the work tool tip and the target elevation.
- Grade Control
Complete work in the first machine person and orientation, using the guidance values, monitor views and audible signals.
- Touch Point
To move into a new position, position the work tool tip on a fixed reference point and save the point using the Touch Point feature on the display menu.
- Grade Control
Move the machine into the new position, touch the reference point and press apply to reset the target elevation automatically. Resume work.
STEPPING UP TO GRADE WITH ADVANCED 2D
You’re likely experiencing productivity gains with the standard Grade with 2D system; however, consider the boost in efficiency and added capability offered by an upgraded system. A great solution for digging, trenching and commercial projects such as site pads and septic systems, using Grade with Advanced 2D allows you to add advanced capabilities. Set parameters for digging and leveling including cross slope and worksite mainfall.
Grade with Advanced 2D gives you in-field design capability a standard 2D system doesn’t have. Use Grade with Advanced 2D to:
- Input, edit and work to basic 2D design plans from the operator’s seat.
- Create a section on the touchscreen using a known grade point.
- Dig to the plan without overcutting or undercutting.
- View the position of the bucket in real time and select from different viewing angles.
- Increase machine versatility when working larger sites.
TACKLING CONTOURS AND CURVES WITH GRADE WITH 3D
Cat Grade with 3D offers greater design functionality and technology for more complicated jobs, such as commercial site projects, and large infrastructure, civil, heavy and highway projects.
With bucket positioning in relation to preloaded 3D design files or background maps, the system helps to coordinate multiple machine tasks while maintaining fast, accurate digging.
Complex designs and multiple machines need technology that delivers real-time satellite positioning guidance. Grade with 3D, with its two GNSS receivers and Real Time Kinematic positioning guidance, is a perfect choice for jobs that need superior accuracy.
An easy-to-use touchscreen monitor helps track both machine and bucket location anywhere on the jobsite. Grade with 3D enables you to use in-field design capabilities to make sure you are achieving accuracy across even the largest jobsites, and the system automatically compensates for excavator pitch and roll due to sloping ground.
For convenience and ease of use, Cat Grade with 3D is compatible with Leica, Topcon and Trimble radios and base stations.
