Designed For Control

Our mechanical-drive models feature four-corner oil-cooled brakes and Automatic Retarder Control to improve handling and machine control so operators can work quickly and confidently. The brakes are continuously cooled by water-to-oil heat exchangers for exceptional, non-fading braking and retarding performance. With retarding power applied to all four corners, the full weight of the truck can be applied for traction, resulting in the ability to hold a higher retarding force in poor underfoot condition

Our electric-drive trucks offer the best braking in their class. They feature full dynamic retarding through a compact radial grid, backstopped by the proven design of Caterpillar four-corner oil-cooled brakes, which provide 100% anytime braking. Single-pedal electronic control allows the operator to focus on the haul road — utilizing dynamic retarding for the first 80% of travel and oil-cooled brakes for the last 20% with automatic blending at low speeds. Automatic Retarding Control makes retarding easier.

DESIGNED FOR COMFORT

Every truck in the Cat lineup is equipped with dozens of features designed to enhance comfort and reduce fatigue, such as automatic climate control, reduced vibration and sound, and updated seats that include amenities such as height adjusters; an adjustable shoulder stock to keep the seatbelt from rubbing on the operator’s neck; and seat back, side and lumbar bolsters to increase stability. All cabs offer an ergonomic layout, and controls, levers and switches that are positioned for ease of use.

From slip-resistant surfaces and guard rails to state-of-the-art collision avoidance technologies, Cat trucks are infused with features to help operators feel safe and confident on the job.

We focus on access and egress, with features like wide walkways and stairways, diagonal stairways and optional powered access ladders. We incorporate safety features like integrated park brakes and emergency brakes, additional lighting and optional factory-installed fire suppression systems.

We work to provide excellent all-around visibility, with wide-angle mirrors, a wide field of view and optional camera systems and technologies like Cat MineStar™ Detect that give operators a better view of what’s happening around their equipment. In addition to camera views, Detect can also combine cameras and radar into a true object detection system that automatically alerts operators to hazards.

Additional Detect capabilities can leverage satellites to provide proximity warnings and avoidance zones, seat-belt monitoring that encourages operators to buckle up, and in-cab systems that intervene when they detect fatigue or distraction.
