This course covers some of the basic concepts and principles of Cat® Gas Engines. This includes, difference between diesel and gas engine, compression ratios, combustion cycles, and stoichiometry.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Identify key differences between a diesel engine and a gas engine
  • Name the most common compression ratios for gas engines
  • Identify the different combustion cycles used in Cat engines
  • Classify engines by their combustion type (rich, lean or ultra lean burn) and it's importance on emissions.
