Frequently Asked Questions

What typically causes radiator failure?

A collision or any type of impact on the front of your machine could result in radiator damage and eventual failure. Coolant contamination is another culprit. It can lead to corrosion, which can cause the engine to overheat.

What are the warning signs of radiator failure?

A coolant leak on the ground is the most common warning sign that your radiator needs attention.

What steps can I take to prevent radiator failure?

  • Inspect your radiator as part of your daily walkaround. Check the hoses as part of this inspection and replace them if you see damage, cracks or bulges. Also check the radiator cap and replace it when it shows signs of wear.
  • Clean the radiator fins regularly to prevent clogging. Avoid using high-pressure water.
  • Flush the cooling system as recommended in your Operation & Maintenance Manual to help prevent contamination.
  • Use the proper coolant and change it at the recommended intervals in your Operation & Maintenance Manual.
