USING SLOPE ASSIST IN YOUR CAT® DOZER
Cat® Slope Assist bulldozer technology makes grading easy by automatically maintaining a blade angle without needing an external laser or GPS reference. It reduces operator input and helps you finish the job faster.
Caterpillar has built a slope angle indicator into your monitor and designed your dozer with technology that adjusts to that angle automatically. Slope indicate values are displayed on your home screen. The value on the right shows the tilt of the blade; the value on the left is the fore-aft slope of the dozer.
Here’s a video that goes over the basics of using Slope Assist.
Why should you be using Slope Assist on your Cat® dozer?
- Better surface quality. Slope Assist helps you to control the blade while dozing for a smoother finish and less variation. Using Slope Assist, you can achieve up to a 68% smoother final grade.
- Faster finish. With Slope Assist, finish the job in up to 39% less time. That means fewer passes and less rework.
- Less operator effort. Slope Assist makes sure your blade is in the right spot, reducing operator input up to 82%.
- Accuracy. Slope Assist helps you cut and grade precisely to the plan. Just dial in your specifications and go.

How do you start using Slope Assist?
On your monitor, enter the Slope Assist menu.
- Make sure your menu has no recall values from past jobs; click the cycle button until you remove any and all recall values still saved in the machine.
- When your dozer is in gear and you’re ready to start grading, push the yellow auto button on your dozer control joystick to engage automatics. You’ll see the display change from a hand symbol to a green auto symbol. The blade will react to your inputs, but once you let go of the control, the machine once again takes over and maintains the initial slope setting.
- Need to disable Slope Assist? Hit that yellow button again.
