• Repairs fix or replace worn or under-performing components. Think of a repair as a problem solver.

• Rebuilds return end-of-life components, systems or machines to like new condition. (Others call this heavy equipment refurbishing.) Think of a rebuild as a life extender.

SHOULD I CHOOSE HEAVY EQUIPMENT REBUILDING (OR REFURBISHING) VS. REPAIRING?

The answer depends on your situation and priorities. Here’s a good rule of thumb:

• Do you only need to replace a few components or fix a minor issue? Are you planning to replace this machine soon or use it infrequently? Does it need to be back on the job ASAP? Repairing heavy equipment may be faster and more cost effective.

• Does your machine need major repairs? Do you plan on using it for a while? Are you flexible on timing? Rebuilding (or refurbishing) heavy equipment may be more economical. And don’t overlook the other advantages of a rebuild. You can restore a machine’s original performance and productivity, add optional upgrades and enhancements, and even increase resale value.

Within each category, you’ll find customizable options and tiered pricing. Your local Cat dealer will work with you to identify your specific repair and parts needs, then find the right level for your business.

Completing repairs before failure helps keep costs and downtime to a minimum. In some cases, you can replace failed components with Cat Reman parts to reduce repair expenses and timing. Your dealer can also help you plan repairs to keep uptime high.

WHAT ARE MY HEAVY EQUIPMENT REBUILDING (OR REFURBISHING) OPTIONS?

You can select a Cat dealer rebuild tailored to your budget and timeframe. Or you can opt for a Cat Certified Rebuild, which restores like new performance for a fraction of the cost.

Every Cat Certified Rebuild machine undergoes an extensive rebuild process. It includes more than 350 tests and inspections, plus the latest engineering updates. Your dealer also completes the reconditioning work not included in typical overhauls and the automatic replacement of parts that don’t meet strict reusability standards. A Cat Certified Rebuild machine receives a new product identification number (PIN) and a same-as-new warranty.
