Cat® Electronics — The Backbone of the Machine

Cat drills feature industry-leading electronic hardware, including Electronic Control Modules, touchscreens, joysticks, sensors, switches, coils, breakers, relays, timers, actuators and more. All harnesses and cables are built to our exacting standards of quality and durability, with IP ratings at the highest standards.

All Cat drills are built on a common electronic architecture, one they share both with each other and with other Cat machines. That means less training and documentation for your service technicians, as well as common parts and components. If your team currently supports other Cat machines, they will already be familiar with your drill’s electronics and be able to service these machines with minimal training or interruption.

And with the addition of Cat® Electronic Technician (ET), servicing the electronics on a Cat drill is easier than ever before. ET is a software-based service tool that allows technicians to directly communicate and work with the electronic controls on your machines. Users can view machine parameters and diagnostic codes, change control configurations, record information over a designated period, run tests and calibrations and more. That makes for faster, simpler troubleshooting that keeps your machine hard at work.

Cat electronics are tested and hardened to endure all manner of harsh conditions. The result is a stable, reliable electronic system that you can rest assured will stand up to your site’s unique challenges. And thanks to the inclusion of a number of machine protection features and interlocks, the drill is even more resistant to potential failure or misuse — meaning your operators are safer and your drill is less likely to experience downtime for electronic failure or maintenance.

The electronics of a Cat drill serve as a platform for a wide variety of autonomy solutions, from the basic machine automated functions to the industry-leading autonomous operation of Cat® MineStar™ Command for Drilling. And as new autonomy solutions are tested and developed, you can count on Cat electronics to continue to provide a stable platform on which to run them.
