Cat® Dynamic Gas Blending is a dual-fuel technology that allows existing Cat diesel engines to burn natural gas, diesel fuel or a combination of the two. DGB technology is specifically designed for well services and drilling applications and helps operators lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, reduce fuel use and expand fuel options.

Each iteration of DGB brings more capabilities to more equipment across industries.

DGB technology uses gas when available and seamlessly reverts to diesel-only when unavailable. Automatic fuel blending has grown to include a wide range of natural gas fuel qualities to help offset fuel costs without sacrificing performance.

DGB continues to evolve to optimize gas substitution across all applications. Starting in 2012, we launched our initial DGB solution to help give customers relief from rising diesel fuel costs. Cat DGB continues to deliver intelligent, on-the-fly adjustments that had never been seen before.

2012 - 2013

The first DGB kits enter the market for drilling and well services. Peak diesel substitution achieved 70%.

2016

Port cylinder injectors used in mining improves DGB functionality and enables the ability to optimize substitution per cylinder.

2018

85% peak diesel displacement achieved in new Well Service T4 DGB.

2024

Port injected technology is introduced to drilling with the DGB Gen 2 Kit.
