Cat Trial 2: Gravity
Cat® B15 Smartphone Defies “Gravity” to Prove it Belongs
You demand Cat® equipment that is rugged, durable and built for the harshest conditions. And whether it’s tough terrain or brutal temperatures, your people and our dealer personnel need to stay connected to get the job done and Cat Phones are built with you in mind; strong enough to withstand the demands of the work you do.
Cat Trial 2: Gravity puts these phones to the test. We wanted to prove that Cat Phones could stand up to the rigorous standards we’ve set for our products. In the course of the day, you drop your phone several times. It happens. We dropped a Cat B15 Smartphone, to the ground and into water, from 30 feet - and it was still working – no bag of rice needed.
The next question was: could it hold up to one of our machines?
So we added it to 599 others, lined up, on the ground for a Cat Multi Terrain Loader to run over them. Not even a 4.6-ton machine could keep the Cat Phones from working. All of the phones were operational and intact after the grueling challenge ended, a testament to the low ground pressure low-impact rubber tracks that allow MTLs to tread lightly on sensitive surfaces, like turf or golf greens, where other machines would cause damage.
Some fun facts about Cat Trial 2: Gravity include:
- The retail value of all the B15s used in the video was approximately $217,000 USD.
- Lighting the set took more power than the site had available, so a 175,000 watt Cat® Generator was brought in to supply the required power.
- To capture footage from all angles required three primary cameras and twelve Go Pro cameras.
Today, the next generation of Cat Phones continues in the tradition of rugged durability. They include the Cat® S62 Pro, the Cat® S42 H+ and the Cat® B40.
Cat Trial 2: Gravity is 100% one of those videos you see online that should have the disclaimer “don’t try this at home” – unless you have a Cat Phone!
